Job Description

Overview

We're hiring a talented Senior Data Architect for an important hands-on role. You will be part of a Data Architecture team responsible for all aspects of data platform development. You will contribute to the full software development life cycle, including design, data modeling, application development, refactoring, data migrations, code reviews, unit testing, performance tuning, deployment activities, and post-deployment support. As a senior member of the Data Architecture team you'll ensure designs are aligned across the organization and with long-term objectives in mind.

Responsibilities

* Provide a critical role in a highly agile scrum environment working against light requirements
* Create and manage logical and physical data models using Embarcadero ER/Studio
* Implement physical data models in SQL Server, Postgres, AWS Redshift, and NoSQL platforms (MongoDB)
* Participate as an active member of the team to shape Data Architecture standards and vision
* Implement processes for database code deployment and synchronization across environments
* Code review and provide constructive feedback on database changes from engineers
* Provide technical leadership and mentoring on database technologies and issues to engineers
* Champion initiatives around data quality and data integrity
* Develop stored procedures
* Work with DBA team to identify database and storage bottlenecks, propose design solutions, and tune queries
* Ensure correct source-to-target mappings and transformations between OLTP systems and data warehouses
* Participate in story writing, grooming, and estimating level-of-effort

Qualifications

Academic and Professional Qualifications:

* Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
* 5+ years of full life cycle database development experience in a hands-on role, including writing stored procedures

Experience:

* Skills with Embarcadero ER/Studio, Erwin, or other data modeling tool for OLTP systems
* Expert in data modeling for relational and document-based data stores, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models
* Guides teams through the complete software development life cycle-from concept to delivery
* Experience working with terabyte data sets, billion+ row tables, and high transaction volumes in an OLTP environment
* Demonstrated leadership in root cause analysis and risk mitigation
* Expertise in system performance analysis and tuning
* Effective at planning project work streams for individuals and teams
* Experience with database applications in C# .NET or Java, including data access strategies
* Experience with service-oriented architectures and microservices
* Experience with distributed systems and cloud computing
* Experience with Jenkins or similar continuous integration systems
* Demonstrated leadership in agile software development environments
* Self-starter with exceptional communication skills

Bonus:

* Experience in healthcare information technology
* Knowledgeable in strategies for uptime deployment of database changes
* Dimensional data modeling experience
* Experience with AWS data services
* Experience using Netezza, Redshift, Snowflake, Yellowbrick, Greenplum, Teradata or other MPP warehouse technology
* Experience with Red Gate tools
* Experience with FHIR, HL7, and other healthcare industry standards

Travel Requirements:

* Ability to travel as required, expected less than 5% travel

Working Arrangements:

* Core hours are based on local time zone, but willing to be flexible in work schedule to accomodate various time zones of a global organization
* Work is performed in a standard office environment with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards
