Position Summary

Senior SAP Basis and Linux Administrator will be responsible for SAP Application and Linux administration. Reports to Senior SAP Basis and Database Manager in Global IT Operations. Takes ownership for SAP Basis and Linux administration activities including: system builds, upgrades, patches, system refreshes, configuration, system monitoring, performance tuning, back-up and recovery. On the Database administration side, this role will administer SAP HANA, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase, Max DB and other corporate databases for SAP and non-SAP applications covering activities like installs, upgrades, patches, data refreshes, configuration, database monitoring, performance tuning, back-up and recovery. Supports SOX audits and SAP license audits by extracting necessary data/reports. Maintains SAP Security roles, performs user administration tasks including role assignment changes. Ideal candidate for this position will be someone self-motivated with deep experience in SAP Basis, Linux and DB Admin support.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

35% SAP Basis Administration (S4HANA, BW, BPC, PO, Business Objects, Data Services, Fiori, Solution Manager)

* Install and manage SAP and non-SAP applications including application servers, and databases.
* Implement software upgrades, enhancements, patches as needed in coordination with technical, functional teams and business users.
* Proactively monitor and manage the environment on day to day basis.
* Tune SAP environments to ensure integrity, and stability and optimal performance.
* Perform periodic system refreshes to non-production systems and maintain multi-landscape environments.
* Ensure adherence to configuration management policies and execute SAP transports.
* Provide Application administration support to SAP and non-SAP projects.
* Participate in System Disaster Recovery Planning and Testing.
* Resolve tickets that range from break-fixes to enhancements.

30% Linux Administration (SUSE, Redhat, Centos):

* Performs Linux administration activities including: system builds, upgrades, patches, configuration, system monitoring, performance tuning, back-up and recovery.
* Plan and manage patch management process for corporate Linux Servers.
* Plan, manage and tune monitoring and alerting process for SAP environment.
* Install, configure, manage and monitor Linux Operating systems on virtualized (VMware or Hyper-V), cloud infrastructure services (Azure, AWS or Rackspace) or on Physical hosts.
* Implement OS upgrades, enhancements, patches as needed in coordination with technical, functional teams and business users.
* Automate administration tasks using shell scripts.
* Proactively monitor and manage the environment on day to day basis.
* Tune the environments to ensure security, integrity, stability and optimal performance.
* Provide Linux administration support to SAP and non-SAP projects.
* Participate in design and implementation of High Availability configurations.
* Participate in System Disaster Recovery Planning and Testing.
* Research and implement best practices to secure Linux Server environment.
* Participate in System Disaster Recovery Planning and Testing.

15% Database Administration (Microsoft SQL Server, SAP HANA, Sybase, Max DB and other corporate databases)

* Install and administer databases. Configure databases for High Availability as needed.
* Implement software upgrades, enhancements, patches as needed in coordination with technical, functional teams and business users.
* Proactively monitor and manage databases on day to day basis and apply enhancements and/or fixes as needed.
* Tune Databases to ensure integrity, and stability and optimal performance.
* Perform periodic data refreshes.
* Ensure adherence to configuration management policies and execute database change deployments to production environment.
* Provide Database Administration support to SAP and non-SAP projects.
* Research and implement best practices to secure corporate databases.
* Manage Database Security and support audits.

10% SAP Security

* Manage SAP users, authorizations, and profiles to maintain security of the SAP environment.
* Support SOX audits by requests.
* Support SoD and Access Reviews. Review and apply mitigation controls for users and roles.
* Support SAP License audits and manage user id and categorizations to ensure compliance with SAP user licenses.
* Provide Security administration support to SAP projects
* Ensure compliance to security process and procedures.
* Implement tools and procedures to support SOX audits.

10% Other :

* Provide on-call support for the landscape covering SAP Basis Administration /Linux/SQL Server tasks on rotation basis
* Documentation, Reporting and cross-training:
* Document processes, procedures and environment and cross trains team members.
* Develop and implement operational support plans and procedures for systems in scope.
* Develop and report on service metrics. Identify problem trends and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications

Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree in Business or Technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience required.
* SUSE/Redhat, SAP Basis Certifications preferred.
* 8 years SAP Basis Administration of both ABAP and Java stacks.
* 3 years Linux Administration preferably SUSE.
* 2 years SAP Hana Database Administration.
* 1 year MS SQL Server Administration.
* 1 year SAP Security Administration.
* Relationship Management: Must possess the ability to work effectively in a across multiple disciplines.
* Must demonstrate a strong, open and collaborative work style, and a customer-centric orientation.
* Technical Expertise: Manufacturing & corporate technology environment knowledge. Experience working in a global organization. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
* Attitude: Self-starter, who takes ownership for timely issue resolution, demonstrates creativity in problem solving and continuous improvement. Supports and maintains positive attitude and vision with peers, associates, team members and management.
* Communication: Ability to be attentive and listen to others. Ability to effectively work with IT application, operations teams and end users. Ability to write in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience.
* Leadership: Ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, take initiative and drive them to completion.

Travel:

This job requires both domestic and international travel up to 25% of the time.

This full-time exempt position is located in Pleasanton, CA.
