Job Description

The Network Client On-Boarding team works closely with internal and external teams to successfully on-board new clients and to manage connectivity requirements for existing clients. These clients are located globally and connect to the Fixnetix Low Latency network to enable access a variety of services. The team consists of experienced network project engineers who are used to delivering multiple projects, working to agreed deadlines.

The Network Client On-Boarding team provides 2nd/ 3rd line 24x7 network support escalation for the Technical Operations Centre (TOC).

Roles and Responsibilities

* Review HLD's and LLD's to gain a detailed understanding of the proposed work
* Work with external and internal client design teams to finalise the design, and to clarify all requirements prior to implementation
* Create device configurations based on finalised design
* Work closely with internal and external teams, including 3rd Party Infrastructure contractors to ensure all physical aspects of the network are correctly configured;
* Location of devices including any modular components
* Create patching schedules
* Rack Elevations


* Work closely with other internal and external teams and Project Managers. Ensuring the network elements are deployed on time and fit for purpose of the solutions being implemented
* Execute and document detailed test plan prior to go-live. Remediate any issues identified during the testing phase where applicable
* Produce detailed documentation of final network implementation
* Provide training and guidance to support teams during transition period
* Maintain client network documentation
* Work and extended day, 3 shifts covering 07:00 - 19:00 Monday - Friday - 3 shifts covering
* 2nd/ 3rd line 24x7 network support escalation for the Technical Operations Centre (TOC).
* Key Performance Indicators
* Ability to deliver consistently in a project environment and to take a lead role during the delivery process
* Tasks are completed correctly, on-time, and within the agreed design parameters
* Compliance with internal corporate processes
* Delivery against department objectives in-line with business requirements
* Ability to work effectively and communicate clearly with clients, internal and, external teams
* Investigating and resolving escalated incidents within SLA

Essential Skills

* Demonstrable experience in networking project design and implementation
* Networking knowledge up to CCNP level.
* Strong Cisco switching/routing skills, good knowledge of routing protocols including EIGRP, OSPF and BGP
* Demonstrable knowledge in configuring and debugging firewalls
* Experience working with Nexus 7000 series switches and their associated technologies such as VDC and vPC
* Cisco UCS system implementation experience
* Experience of large multicast environments within a financial organisation
* Demonstrable experience of exchange/broker/ECN connectivity
* Experience of financial markets and investment banking
* Working knowledge Arista Network devices
* Solid experienced with working with security and load balancing products; Cisco ASA, Juniper ScreenOS, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and F5 LTM devices

Desirable Skills

* CCNP/CCIE certification (or equivalent knowledge)
* Strong experience of deploying and troubleshooting Arista switches
* Knowledge of firewall technologies ideally Fortinet, Juniper and Palo Alto
* Extensive experience on low-latency Nexus 35xx switches
* In depth exposure to Cisco UCS system
* Knowledge of Corvil latency monitoring tools
