Job Purpose

The Gas Materials and Standards department is responsible for creating and maintaining Companywide Gas Policies, Work Methods, Construction Standards and Material Specifications. The Analyst will provide support to both the Gas Work Methods and Gas Materials & Standards group to ensure data is following company and federal guidelines.

Key Accountabilities

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

* Design, construct, install, test and maintain highly scalable data management systems
* Research opportunities for data acquisition and resolve data quality issues
* Integrate new data management technologies and software engineering tools into existing structures
* Employ a variety of software and tools to combine dissimilar data sources
* Maintain department website and develop dynamic innovative content for home page
* Provide user training for website as required
* Track user experience and report findings, research solutions for improvement
* Collaborate with team members to architect customized data solutions
* Communicate effectively and translate business requirements into data solutions
* Drive automation opportunity
* Document business requirements
* Support existing SharePoint implementation across the department
* Understand Windows Server and IIS setup and configuration in case of emergency response

Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree required, with relevant work experience in a data intensive discipline (Computer Science, Applied mathematics, Business, Engineering) and background in computer programming and processing
* Programming experience with: Dreamweaver, Java, PHP, HTML, SQL, VBA and other scripting languages/programs
* Knowledge and ability to build and maintain databases in MS Access, SQL, and Excel
* Working knowledge modeling and querying SQL
* Knowledge and ability to construct big data solutions and reports
* Knowledge using SharePoint including design and administration
* Strong reading, writing, and organizational skills preferred
* Demonstrated ability using communication technologies
* Ability to gather and interpret data and information, distill large quantities of information into meaningful and relevant points
* Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy.
