Consultant, Enterprise Java Developer (Hadoop Infrastructure)

Job Description

Our client's Hadoop Infrastructure team provides Hadoop as a platform, supporting open source technologies including HBase, Spark, HDFS, Yarn, Hive, and OOZIE to various application verticals in our firm. In addition to infrastructure management, we develop services, interfaces, and operational toolkits that make it easy for application teams to deploy data sets, query across them, and develop products around it.

You are a talented and motivated engineer who is keen to work with big data stack, looking for a tight-knit, collaborative team. You will work closely with Apache open source projects to develop tools to extend service platform, improve its usability, and make it easier for end users to interact with the big data platform. The current project provides a web-based solution to onboard tenants on to a Hadoop cluster, manage their quotas and permissions, manage HBase objects, provide tenants a programmatic way to query health of the cluster, monitor their quota thresholds, and allow them to run backups and restore their data. You'll also help us to improve and automate the administration/management of our platform offerings.

Current initiatives include:

* Scaling our platform management software to support an order of magnitude more content and hardware than it currently manages
* Developing new APIs/UIs to interact with the big data platform
* Enhancing user experience and provide them with tools to interact with the platform

You'll need to have:

* 5+ years' experience in core Java(version 8 and above) development and front end development, including experience using ORM such as EBean or Hibernate
* 3+ years of strong experience in J2EE, PlayFramework, Spring framework, Spring Boot
* 3+ years of experience in HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, ReactJS, Angular
* Working knowledge of modern development methodologies and tools (Jenkins/Maven/Jira/Github/Git-Flow)

Nice to have:

* Experience working with open-source software/community (upstream accepted contribution, or community presence)
* Experience with Scala
* Experience in working with relational databases: MySQL and PostgreSQL
