UX Designer Job Description

User Experience (UX) Designers are charged with the task of improving user satisfaction for different products, including websites, desktop software and mobile apps. Their job may involve improving accessibility, ease of use and consumer interaction. Working with data collected from questionnaires, focus groups and surveys, UX designers are able to develop products with improved functionality and usability.

UX Designers may be involved in the design phase of a planned product or service. They may also be tasked with testing an already designed product to identify and solve any user difficulties that were missed during the design phase. Other duties and responsibilities may include measuring human-computer interaction (HCI), evaluating UX effectiveness and developing wireframes.

Living and Working in Seattle

Seattle offers a lot of opportunities for UX Designers. The city has a dominant technology industry as well as a thriving financial sector boasting major players like Capital One and Vulcan Inc. Seattle also boasts a booming video game industry, with big names like PopCap, Big Fish games and ArenaNet. In addition, Seattle houses the eighth largest port in the country, which makes it a major gateway for many trade routes through to Alaska and Asia.

Life in Seattle revolves around several major neighborhoods. Capitol Hill is a popular pick with many of the city‰Ûªs high-income professionals, while Belltown provides a prime option for walking and nightlife. South-Lake Union houses the Amazon headquarters, Downtown Seattle is the location of the famous Pike Place Market and Atlantic offers a nice, affordable residential spot with trails and outdoorsy fun.
