Security Engineer Job Description

Security Engineers develop solutions, create security policies and prevent malicious behavior to an organization's system. They're frequently tasked with designing and implementing the best strategies to protect the internal network from unauthorized access. Their roles also involve routinely assessing these systems for any sources of unauthorized access or disruption.

Security Engineers are knowledgeable of networking, Python, Linux OS, Java and more. They test the vulnerability of networks against spyware, adware, phishing malware and more. These specialized engineers will know how to communicate in order to train employees on various security matters. They have an understanding of application vulnerability tools and automated security patching systems. Security Engineers may also have certifications like CISSP, GIAC, GCIA and GCIH. They solve the probable causes of security threats early by examining things from a security perspective. These specialized engineers also know SIEM (Security Information Event Management) platforms, as well as intrusion detection and prevention systems.
