Security Engineer Job Description

Security Engineers are responsible for the security of systems used by an organization. They're frequently tasked with designing and implementing the best strategies to protect the internal network from unauthorized access. It's also their role to routinely assess these systems for any sources of disruption or unauthorized access. Security Engineers test the vulnerability of networks against spyware, adware, phishing malware and more. They develop engineering solutions, create security policies and prevent malicious behavior to an organization's system. These engineers will know how to communicate in order to train employees on various security matters. They're knowledgeable of Linux OS, networking, Java, Python,Ruby and more. Some security engineers have CISSP, GIAC, GCIA and GCIH certifications.

Security Engineers can solve probable causes of security threats early by examining things from a security perspective. They have a good understanding of web and system application vulnerability tools, automated security patching systems, SIEM (Security Information Event Management platform, as well as host-based and network intrusion detection and prevention systems.
