Systems Administrator Job Description

Systems administrators are responsible for systems software, hardware and the related infrastructure. They deal with the configuration and installation, operation, provisioning and maintenance of the systems, ensuring proper functioning of solutions throughout the organization. They participate in research and technical development to ensure the infrastructure remains innovative and adheres to the organization's values.

Systems administrators work with project teams to assist with planning and initiation phases of project management. They rebuild existing Linux and Windows servers, or install new ones as required. They configure the hardware, services, peripherals, directories, storage and other required aspects to meet the operational requirements and standards. Systems administrators also monitor these systems for key processes, verify the availability and integrity of all server resources, and perform security monitoring and daily backups.
