A Front-end Engineer is responsible for programming the interactive, visible features of a company's website that the end user sees. These features can include navigation buttons, animations, games, text boxes and forums. The Front-end Engineer often collaborates with those behind the scenes who process the data on the back end. Front-end Engineers will analyze data on what the website audience needs and coordinate with departments such as marketing and other technical staff to create templates that the web developers can use.
A Front-end Engineer should be able to use coding languages such as JavaScript, CSS and HTML. They should also be able to create attractive designs and templates. Front-end Engineers typically have a four-year degree in Computer Science or a related field and working knowledge of computer programming languages, networking, mathematics, data management and communications.
