Build And Release Engineers are responsible for managing software releases, as well as developing and documenting software infrastructure for organizations. This highly sought-after position focuses on ensuring timely software releases and making sure that the software itself runs smoothly and is intuitive in terms of interface. Build And Release Engineers will usually perform nightly builds for a given piece of software in order to get the entire package ready for release on time. They will also need to create programming scripts to test builds in a robust manner.
Other responsibilities can include developing and implementing plans to monitor systems and perform needed maintenance support. A four-year degree in computer science is often the bare minimum, however some companies will accept equivalent work experience. Strong analytical skills are also vital to the success of this position.
