Swift programmers should be familiar with the Linux platform as well as programming languages of C or C++. Developers should be proficient in Swift, which would include knowledge of its ecosystems. They should also have experience with RESTful APIs or Cocoa APIs and experience with both embedded and other system databases. Swift developers should have UI design experience and have a user-oriented focus. A valuable skill to demonstrate is the ability to benchmark and optimize code.

Employers typically ask for candidates hold a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or have extensive experience in the field of software development. Often candidates will also be asked to create documentation, so good verbal and written communication skills are essential. Candidates should be self-motivating, detail-oriented, organized and be comfortable working in teams.
