Solutions Architects are usually in charge of a development team and are looked to for motivation and guidance. The primary goal of these professionals is to oversee and lead both project managers and programmers during the designing and implementation phases of a project. They will ensure that the solution aligns well with the roadmap given and adheres to set principles. Solutions Architects may focus on how technology is used to solve a problem, how applications will interact and the risk in using third-party platforms or frameworks. The role of these professionals is highly sought after and can be found in high profile companies such as Amazon, Goldman Sachs and Microsoft.
Solutions Architects are routinely asked to have a bachelor’s degree in an information systems field and at least two years of experience. They will be able to demonstrate strong leadership, project management and organizational prowess. Since these professionals are working both with the client and internal team members, candidates should also have strong people management and communication skills in both spoken and written form. Solutions Architects stay up to date on current technologies in order to present the best and most relevant solutions. They know how to design IAM solutions. These professionals will also have an understanding of open source and cloud-hosting technologies, databases such as MySQL and programming languages.
