Gaming Engineers work with modelers, illustrators, testers and other programmers to create a variety of games across many different platforms and genres. This position is involved in every phase from the beginning of a project to completion. As such, a Gaming Engineer will need to work closely with others from the initial design concept all the way through beta testing. As this position is a technical and skilled field, most companies will require at the minimum a bachelor's degree in computer science.

The most common industry-standard languages when it comes to computer programming games are C#, Objective-C, LUA and a few others. Which one will be used for a project will depend on the company and the operating system that company is designing for. In addition to having a firm grasp of programming languages, strong scripting skills are also needed to test and debug effectively.
