Computer Vision Engineers have the important task to develop, test and maintain vision control algorithms for a variety of robotics in advanced hardware systems in a range of environments. They also need to be able to evaluate and improve real-time controls for these robots as well as be familiar with state-of-the-art techniques in the industry. Computer Vision Engineers need to possess strong debugging skills as they have to tackle problem areas in large masses of code on their own and without support. This position also requires solid documentation and communication skills, as well as being able to install necessary hardware for clients and companies.

In order for Computer Vision Engineers to be successful, they need to have a creative and analytical mind to solve many unforeseen problems and find solutions that are not readily apparent. At a minimum, they will need a four-year college degree in computer science or a related software field area and many times, however, advanced graduate level degrees are required for various positions.

Biotechnology has grown largely because of the research at the Univerisity of California, San Diego and other local institutions.

San Diego is most well known for its mild year-round climate, the deep-water harbor and extensive beaches. This makes it a popular place to both work and play. In addition to outdoor activities, the city offers plenty of restaurants, museums and fun neighborhoods like the historic Gaslamp Quarter.
