They can automate capabilities for segmentation, modeling, detection and tracking. These specialists may also examine, design and build software systems for AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality) experiences. They will observe image data in various forms for an array of industries, such as in video sequences and multi-dimensional for medical technologies.

Computer Vision Engineers are in a interdisciplinary field that requires a bachelor's or a master's degree in computer engineering or science, machine learning or related studies. They're experienced with linear algebra, calculus and OpenCV. These specialists will keep up with the latest technological advancements in their field and are familiar with a range of visual system hardware, such as the hyperspectral imager, LIDAR (Light Imaging, Detection and Ranging) and the structured-light 3D scanner. They understand Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and deep learning for interpreting and classifying an image. Computer Vision Engineers are knowledgeable of vector quantization and clustering to construct search engines and systems. They will also use Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and other machine learning models for facial recognition.
