Security Engineers are tasked with building and maintaining IT security solutions for a company or organization. Also known as network security engineers or information security engineers, they help safeguard the access and flow of data. These professionals install security measures designed to thwart cyber-attacks or network hacks. In addition, they create recovery plans as contingencies against attacks or data loss. Security Engineers also handle any technical problems that may arise during day-to-day operations. They can be found in various industries, averaging 40 hours per week. These professionals often work alongside information security analysts and network architects. Most Security Engineers have a degree in computer science, network engineering or a related field. As part of their duties, they also conduct penetration test to search for vulnerabilities that might be exploited.
