To perform these tasks, Data Engineers must be fluent in programming languages, including Python, C/C++, Perl and Java, and must be experts in database management, particularly with SQL and Hadoop, with an emphasis on Hbase and Hive. Thorough knowledge of data warehousing solutions and Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) tools like StitchData and Segment are also vital to the role.
