Find Jobs in the Government Industry

The government industry offers literally thousands of different jobs. There are over two million employees working for the federal government alone and many more working in state and local governments and municipalities. Government jobs range from the workers that mend the potholes in the streets to government officials tending to the daily operations of running the government. There are different classes of government workers. One such classification encompassing thousands of job titles is the General Schedule (GS). GS workers are assigned levels within the pay scale ranging from GS-1 to GS-14. The General Schedule states job requirements and skills necessary to perform the specific job at all levels. Skilled professionals and occupations related to these professionals account for nearly a third of all federal employees. These workers contribute to social, physical and life sciences and occupy such positions as scientists, geoscientists and foresters. The Veterans Association employs myriad health professionals such as doctors, surgeons and vocational nurses.

The computer sciences are well-represented in the space of government jobs. Specialists such as network analysts, system administrators and software engineers are in high demand and opportunities abound in government employment. Career progression in government jobs is well defined and extremely well documented. Career paths for all General Schedule jobs are delineated specifically when applying for a GS position. In other words, when applying for the job, the skills and experiences necessary to qualify for each level are clearly defined. Management, financial and business positions make up about 27 percent of the General Schedule.

Sorry, we don't currently have any jobs meeting these requirements.
