Find Gaming Engineer Jobs

Gaming Engineers must be both creative and scientific. Employed by entertainment and technology companies, they use their technical expertise to design, program and develop both video and arcade games. They might also work with gaming designers to implement audio programs, computer simulation or animation in games. Testing, research and debugging software is often a part of the job description along with deployment. This includes working with writers to draft technical documentation and training manuals for users.

To qualify as a Gaming Engineer, a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field like software engineering, computer science, computer engineering or information technology is required. Because the Gaming Engineer needs to write code, experience with traditional programming languages such as C++, Ruby, Python and Java is crucial. Additionally, a variety of advanced programming skills like artificial intelligence, 3D modeling, console programming and virtual reality development would be helpful. Some employers may also look for candidates with a knowledge of cloud services, game engines, data management and prototyping.

The Gaming Engineer should have a thorough understanding of how the process of game designing works. They must also have a passion for game design and be a team player who is able to collaborate with graphic artists, programmers and production staff. Soft skills like time management, problem solving, adaptability and leadership will go a long way in this field.
