Working as a QA Manual Test Engineer is a rewarding job. The QA Manual Test Engineer is responsible for catching any bugs or glitches in the company’s software. They generally do this through quality assurance testing using manual processes. When issues are detected, the QA Manual Test Engineer reports them and often times is responsible for correcting them. This job requires attention to detail and organization. A QA Test Engineer ensures that all company applications, products or systems function correctly. They do this by performing regular test cases.
Applicants for this job should be able to demonstrate the skills necessary to perform it successfully. These can include strong problem-solving skills, an analytical mind, ability to troubleshoot and fix issues, and strong communication skills. They should also hold a degree in computer science or a related field and have working knowledge of regression testing, Agile frameworks, test management software and SQL.
Working in the electronics industry, a QA Manual Test Engineer may work on a variety of projects. They could design and develop test platforms for high-speed Datacom modules, apply test methodology to emerging standards and analyze field returns and manufacturing rejects. To work in this industry, a QA Manual Test Engineer should have knowledge of C programming as well as Telcordia/NEBS testing methodologies and LabWindows. They should also have excellent communication skills and the ability to multitask.
