Engineering Managers are technical professionals that organize the activities of teams of engineers to accomplish tasks. They must have ample experience in their field as well as an understanding of many facets of engineering in order to have a solid grasp of the requirements of each of their staff. Engineering Managers are leaders and must have good communicative skills as well as excellent time management and imagination. At this level, they are not only responsible for accomplishing tasks but also for innovating and developing new projects. They may find themselves in an office, in the R&D lab and on-site in the same day. Engineering Managers also need to have a good understanding of the aims of the entire firm, as they will often coordinate with the directors and managers from other departments.
