Working within the Avnet centralized Applications Engineering organization, a Xilinx Processor Specialist Field Applications Engineer will provide technical support on Xilinx's Zynq and ZU+MPSoC family to Avnet FAE's and their customers in an assigned region. The Xilinx Processor Specialist Field Applications Engineer will also interface directly with Xilinx sales personnel on customer opportunities, and Xilinx factory engineers on issues related to technical support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Include (but are not limited to) the following:

* Thoroughly understand all major components of Xilinx products, with a focus on Zynq and ZU+MPSoC devices, and how they should be applied in a customer application.
* Develop and maintain expertise on Xilinx's embedded product portfolio, embedded development tools, and application solutions
* Provide support through entire range of customer's product development: formation of initial concept, hardware/software design tradeoffs, design specification generation, board and FPGA level logic design, firmware and microcode software development, design verification, volume production line ramp-up.
* Provide analysis of a customer's requirements and propose a Xilinx solution.
* Work closely with other applications engineers to understand customer systems, diagnose issues, and implement new features.
* Assist customers with feature implementation from a system architecture and platform level.
* Troubleshooting customer hardware and software issues; replicate when appropriate and use test equipment to further diagnose and resolve.
* Promptly address customer technical questions via email, phone and WebEx when necessary.
* Act as technical liaison between the customer and factory personnel for all Zynq and ZU+MPSoC issues.
* Communicate customer feedback to factory to help improve Xilinx products and enablement tools to better align with customer needs.
* Track customer program progress with Avnet and Xilinx Sales.

Job requirements:

* Working knowledge of hardware development software used to construct, configure, and simulate embedded systems implemented in the FPGA (e.g., Xilinx Vivado)
* Working knowledge of software development suites used to write and debug software for the embedded system (e.g., Xilinx SDK, PetaLinux, Yocto Linux, bare metal OS and drivers)
* Ability to analyze performance and optimizing code of single and multi-core ARM devices, including open and closed source libraries, frameworks, reference BSP drivers and C/assembly level boot code
* Working knowledge of ARM cores (A9, A53, R5), high performance busses (AMBA AXI) and interconnect, memory, and peripheral controllers integrated in SoC devices
* Knowledge and understanding of VHDL and/or Verilog, Tcl, C/C++, Python
* Experience with Linux operating system when used as a development host environment (command line interface, find, grep, basic shell scripting, vnc)
* Experience with open source software development utilities such as GNU tools (make, gcc, binutils, etc)
* Excellent written and verbal communications skills necessary for customer interaction
* Team attitude, but also the ability to work independently
* Previous FAE experience is a plus

Work Experience:

* 10+ years with bachelor's or equivalent combination of formal education and directly related experience. 8+ years with master's

Education and Certification(s):

* Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent technical education
