Responsibilities:

Support for legacy based National Security / Emergency Preparedness priority telecommunication services transition to Next Generation Networks (NGN) Priority Services to keep pace with Public Switched Network (PSN) evolution. The project focuses on standards support and participation required to support the migration of legacy priority services to NGN/4G/5G networks and platforms. NGN Priority Services are intended to be standards-based to ensure interoperability. The project provides the requisite engineering to identify and promote interoperability standards to support priority telecommunications. In supporting standards, the project provides technical expertise to conduct planning, technical/traffic analysis, requirements and engineering necessary to enhance NGN Priority Services technologies and to promote service improvements.

His/her current interests should involve standards, requirements, and consultation. Should be knowledgeable of NGN, Internet Protocol (IP) Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), 4G/Long Term Evolution (LTE), 5G, and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). Knowledge and experience in priority services (e.g., Government Emergency Telecommunications Service (GETS), Wireless Priority Service (WPS), Emergency, and Public Safety) is desirable. He/she should have experience in standards development in one or more major standards organizations, including experience in dealing with participants from service providers and equipment vendors.

Qualifications:

Requires 10 to 12 years with BS/BA or 8 to 10 years with MS/MA or 5 to 7 years with PhD.

* Experience working in standards organizations (e.g., ATIS committee/subcommittee, 3GPP specification group/subgroup, ITU-T, Broadband Forum).
* Expert knowledge in NGN, IMS, 4G/LTE, 5G, and VoIP architectures, requirements, and protocols.
* Travel to attend national and international standards meetings.
