CommScope is hiring a Principal level Wireless Baseband System Engineer in Richardson TX

Position Description:

* Coordinate development of 5G virtualized baseband DSP architecture and interfaces between customers, technology partners, and internal business units.
* Extraction of wireless network requirements from 3GPP, xRAN, ORAN, eCPRI, IEEE1914, etc to define virtualized RAN and BBU architectures and fronthaul requirements.
* Specification of 5G virtualized BBU capabilities and features across user, control, synchronization, and maintenance planes.
* Coordinate with technology partners and internal business units to define and develop integrated virtualized PHY, MAC, and RLC capabilities and specify associated hardware compute requirements.
* Define and coordinate system hardware and software features needed for implementation of precision time protocol synchronization.
* Support system specification, architecture definition, network element hardware and software development, system integration and verification, network integration, and interoperability testing.
* Architect and simulate advanced beamforming, MIMO, predistortion, and calibration algorithms for 5G RAN systems and implement code.
* Conduct system integration of beamforming, MIMO precoding, calibration, radio feature control, and fault monitor and alarm features.
* Support of system feature integration, performance testing, system demonstration, and lab trial efforts for end-to-end system.

Qualifications:

* Bachelors degree in a related discipline with at least 12 years of direct experience or a Masters Degree in a related discipline with at least 8 years of experience. Master of Science or PhD in Electrical Engineering preferred.
* Direct experience in development, integration, and testing of LTE BBU functions including LTE PHY, MAC, Scheduler, RLC, PDCP, and RRC.
* Direct experience in developing DSP architecture and implementation of physical layer functions such as FEC, iFFT, FFT, MIMO precoder, OFDM modulator/demodulator.
* Experience in development of data, control, and maintenance planes of of LTE stack layers L1, L2, and L3.
* Experience in DSP resource estimation and partitioning between hardware and software implementation.
* Familiarity with ethernet packet format and packet processing.
* Proficiency developing code using MATLAB, LINUX, and C.
* Knowledge of wireless infrastructure architectures and air interface standards including LTE and HSPA and advanced MIMO techniques including MU-MIMO and massive MIMO.
* Skilled in thorough documentation of requirements and architectures and presentation of network architecture concepts.
