JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for executing, and reporting on automated and manual web application/portal testing. Specifically directed towards the testing of portals for external customers. Accountable for designing, developing, and executing quality test processes, test strategies, test plans and test cases that verify software conformance to acceptance criteria and feature design documents for small to complex projects. Considered a subject matter expert for a single program/system.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Defines and tracks quality assurance metrics such as defects, defect counts, test results and test status

Collects and analyzes data for software process evaluation and improvements, and integrates them into business processes to address the business needs

Provides succinct and accurate documentation of issues.

Delivers quality process training to technical staff and acts as an internal quality consultant to advise or influence business or technical partners

Ensures quality standards, procedures and methodologies are being followed

Documents and implements test strategies, plans, processes and standards

Utilizes, maintains and improves test execution and tracking technology and systems

Reports progress on goals on an as requested basis

Supports and, when appropriate, helps to maintain the test automation framework

Ensures that appropriate testing tools are selected and applied optimally

Reviews the architecture and designs of systems and features, and actively engage with Business Analysts and Developers/Engineers to ensure the soundness of proposed solutions

Creates and maintains configuration notes for the testing environments, both functional and non‐functional (e.g. performance testing) environments.

Actively participates in Sprint Planning and Retrospectives, ensuring the voice, recommendations and concerns of the test team is professionally and purposefully represented.

Leads, guides and mentors other testers

Provides recommendations to application stakeholders and leadership teams on fitness of releases for production deployments and/or UAT handoffs

Supports UAT/SIT activities where requested and appropriate

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

Strong communicator (written and verbal): ability to read, write, speak and understand English

Ability to focus on deadlines and deliverables

Self-starter, self-motivated, driven individual

Ability to analyze and assist in resolving defects

Ability to work well with shifting priorities

Ability to work with cross-functional team of internal and external resources located onshore and offshore

Keen attention to detail

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Display professional, positive, and approachable attitude/demeanor and discretion

Critical thinker, ability to negotiate with key stakeholders and maintain positive attitude

Strong organizational skills

Good understanding of quality assurance process, tools and methodologies

Understanding of database schemas and querying tools

Strong understanding of the AGILE software development life cycle

Creative solving of technical problems to ensure the ability to translate technical requirements into test plans

Ability to lead a team of other testers

Ability to track multiple test efforts simultaneously and to be able to synthesize the results in fast paced environment

Proficient in using HP Test Suite or other Testing Tools

Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Working knowledge of Jira Agile is required

Knowledge of the HP ALM and/or TestRail

Selenium and Jenkins is a plus

Perforce, GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Crowd HP quality experience is a plus

Cable industry experience is a plus

Works on projects of high complexity within one or more development environments. Works on multiple programs/systems as a project team member.

Experience testing customer facing web portals is required

Experience working with an Agile development team is required

Experience with cable billing systems is a plus (CSG)

Education

BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent work experience

Testing Certification ISTQB Advanced Level preferred

Related Work Experience

5+ years testing in an Agile environment
