Tableau's Visual Designers are embedded in the Product Development team. Visual Design is part of a larger Design team comprised of over 30 visual and interaction designers who curate Tableau's user experience. We work in multidisciplinary product development teams to create features and user flows for our desktop, web, and mobile products.

Some of the things you'll be doing include…

* Work collaboratively with other designers, user researchers, technical writers, product managers, and engineers throughout the planning and development life cycle.
* Lead the effort with the visual and UI design of cross-platform user experiences for Tableau's ever-expanding enterprise SaaS suite of visual analysis products.
* Design elegant user interfaces that keep our customers inside the flow of their work.
* Creative thinker who can effectively innovate big ideas and also work out all the details.
* Communicate often and effectively with all stakeholders; i.e. technical developers, business leaders, and users.
* Able to show off terrific portfolio of existing work with web, mobile and visual design.
* Develop user interface design concepts and wireframes, usage scenarios, style guidelines, and other UX/UI design documents as necessary to communicate the user experience of our products.
* Oversee the extension and evolution of our product's design systems across new features and enhancements.
* Design for a variety of projects under the guidance of a UX/UI Design Lead
* Work closely with both external clients and internal, cross-functional teams on projects that range from a few weeks to a few months in length

Who you are...

* Educated. 2+ years of interaction and visual design in a corporate or agency context, or MS in HCI or related discipline.
* Experienced. Understanding and experience in user-centered design process. Experience assisting with a broad range of assets from icons to web flows, moving your designs throughout an agile development process, wireframing and prototyping.
* Skilled Experience using design tools such as Sketch, Invision, Axure, Omnigraffle, etc., knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript, Excellent interaction design skills
* Flexible. Able to take feedback constructively and iterate on designs and ideas from multiple stakeholders with differing opinions.
* Technical. In this role, you will design Tableau capabilities by working with feature teams and reviewing UX flows. You love learning new tools and pushing the boundaries in order to create engaging designs. You will blaze the trail for Tableau users by using new capabilities to create scenario-based documentation that delights our customers.
* Curious. You are a problem solver. You have an inquisitive mind and you're not afraid to use it. You know when to ask questions, which questions to ask, and how to listen with intent to learn.
* People-friendly. You work easily with other designers, developers, product managers, and, of course, with customers.
* Hands on. Your typical approach to figuring out how something works is to try it and see.
* Creative. Creative thinker who can effectively innovate big ideas and also work out all the details. A passion for championing UX and innovation.
* Independent. You like to figure out what's needed and then get to work!
