Embedded Software Engineer, Makani
Makaniis developing energy kites - a new way to produce electricity from the wind that we believe can significantly expand where wind can be economically sited. We are pushing the boundaries of avionics, energy, and materials technology to provide clean and efficient power.
As an embedded software engineer, you will work with a team of control systems engineers, electrical engineers, and software engineers to bring together the many different components (motors, servos, ground station, flight controller, and more) into a working, airborne wind energy system.
You will be based in Alameda, CA with occasional trips to project test sites, which may be located domestically and/or abroad.
+ Own and improve software for embedded systems in the ground station and the kite
+ Develop automated testing software for embedded systems
+ Perform bench testing and PCB bring-up of embedded systems
+ Provide real-time support for flight tests at remote test sites
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
+ Proficiency with Python and C or C++
+ 2+ years of experience in embedded C software development
+ Experience reading schematics and electronics specifications, and interfacing software to hardware according to those specifications
+ Ability to transform complex mathematical models and algorithms into efficient code
+ Graduate degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
+ Experience with electrical bring-up and embedded development for custom ARM-based platforms
+ Experience with low level Linux software development
+ Familiarity with industrial communications and control (PLC) systems
+ Interest in physics, renewable energy, and large flying machines
