Department Profile: The Equity Derivatives Practice Area Group provides technology to support flow, exotic and securitized equity derivative trades as well as equity swaps trades from inception to maturity, covering pre-trade and post trade activities. Pre-trade functionality includes product structuring, price discovery, pricing and request-for-quote. Post-trade functionality includes the capture of trade and market events, maintaining intraday risk positions, analyzing risk scenarios and providing risk reports.

Background on the Team: Our team's main business area is the over-the-counter (OTC) or off-exchange trading of equity derivatives. Our application is the Firm's strategic trade capture and structured note issuance system. It is a complex distributed global platform with a rich C# user interface and a set of loosely coupled backend components primarily written in Scala and Java. Additionally other technologies are also used on-demand like HTML5 and Python. The system has the enviable position of being central to much of the Firm's OTC sales and trading activity, both as an application in its own right and also as a service hub for many of the other systems supporting key business flows. The team in New York is part of a global team of about 80 developers distributed around the globe. Being in a business center we work closely with Sales, Trading, Operations and Finance on a daily basis. Our typical day is a mix of communication, planning, design, development, production support and testing. We also work closely together with other technology teams globally to resolve complex and exciting business or technology challenges overarching business divisions and technology systems.

Primary Responsibilities: We are looking for a technically proficient hands-on C# developer experienced in developing distributed systems. Additional Java and/or Scala would be a plus. The position will require supporting different phases of product lifecycle including analysis, development and testing. The successful candidate will have a bachelor or master degree in Computer Science or similar. Equity Derivatives product knowledge would be advantageous, a desire to work in a financial business is essential. Skills required (essential)

Strong knowledge of C#, including at least one of at least one desktop (WPF, WinForms, Swing etc) or a web framework.

Experience with WPF MVVM development.

Knowledge of SQL.

Skills desired

Standard Java including latest language features and commonly used open source libraries.

Experience with Spring and knowledge of parallel programming concepts.

Knowledge of Scala.

Knowledge of asynchronous programming and software design patterns.

Knowledge of WCF, MQ, SOAP, WSDL, REST.

Experience with Git and Jira.

Experience working in a large technology organization, ideally within investment banking.

User-level knowledge of Unix/Linux.

Knowledge of some scripting language, ideally Python.

Knowledge of financial products, OTC derivatives and trading systems.
