We are looking for an experienced UI/ CSS Engineer 2 - Browse to join our team. In this role, your main responsibilities will include updating existing functionality and building new features using agile best practices, leveraging modern Javascript and tools like React, Redux, CSS, and Node to enhance the jcp.com experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Work closely with web development and UX team for production, modification and maintainence of web applications
* Work closely with web development and UX team to ensure consistency in Web UI using our Design System and Component Library
* Develop and unit test software that meets business requirements and technical design
* Work directly with other JCPenney IT associates as well as JCPenney business customers to communicate technical capabilities
* Troubleshoot pre- and post-production implementations
* Propose new ideas when there is strong business value and stay up to date on the latest technology trends and techniques

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

* Solid understanding of Javascript/ES6
* Strong CSS expertise
* Strong understanding of Responsive Web Design/Development
* Experience building high performance web UI using React or Angular
* Experience building CSS architecture using OOCSS, SMACSS, BEM, etc.
* Experience building Component Libraries using React Storybook, Styleguidist, etc.
* Ability to write clean, modular, reusable code
* Strong understanding of CSS Preprocessors (SASS, LESS, PostCSS)
* Basic Understanding of UX Design tools and principals (Zeplin, Sketch, Atomic Design, Design Systems, etc)
* Knowledge of build tools (Webpack, Gulp, Grunt) and Continuous Deployment (Jenkins, Travis) is nice to have
* Work experience in Agile Scrum methodologies
* Experience with Adaptive/Responsive Design Principles
* 1-2 years of demonstrated experience with React JS
* 5+ years of demonstrated experience building large scale web UI
