SYMVIONICS has an opening for a Automated Software Testing Engineer at Palmdale, CA

SYMVIONICS is looking for a person to develop a suite of automated software tests to improve its flagship flight test display and analysis product, IADS. This engineer will use both 3rd party and in-house developed tools to decrease the total turnaround time for an IADS software release while at the same time increase the stability of that release

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

* Assist in selecting a third party automated software testing tool that can be programmatically extended and customized to meet our needs.
* Maintain in-depth knowledge of all the software and hardware components of IADS
* Develop automated test suite for regression testing IADS
* Develop automated test suite for performance testing IADS
* Support end-of-release testing, including developing 'ad-hoc' tests for new requirements and assisting with test execution
* Adapt tests to reproduce errors encountered in the field so that software development engineers can debug IADS.

Responsibilities:

* Support IADS status meetings as required and identify areas for improvement
* May be required to perform work outside normal duty hours
* Provides input into scheduled requirements so that all event and time driven tasks are performed on time. If a predetermined schedule cannot be met, action will be taken prior to the due date to adjust the task completion date.
* Prepare cost estimates/analysis of planned modifications identifying the impact to hardware and/or software and documentation.
* Document changes to test plans/procedures.
* Establish and maintain Configuration Management of test plans/procedures
* Participate in new program planning and start-up
* Business development proposal support as required

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience and Education

Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering, math or computer science field and five years related experience and training.

Experience and Knowledge of the Following:

* C/C++ and/or Java programming languages
* Third party automated testing tools such as Ranorex
* Background in IRIG-106 standards
* Experience with common flight test hardware such as Chapter 10 recorders and PCM decommutators.
* Experience airborne test instrumentation, in particular common airborne instrumentation systems such as Curtiss-Wright/TTC, Curtiss-Wright/Acra and Heim/Zodiac Data systems.
* Modern office procedures and methods
* Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
* Verbal and written communication skills
* Interpersonal/human relations skills

Ability to:

* Generate and execute test plans in support of new product releases
* Translate system requirements into documented test cases
* Organize, plan and coordinate effectively
* Read and interpret technical drawings
* Maintain accurate records
* Operate computer equipment and software
* Work independently in the absence of supervision
* Ability to obtain a government Security Clearance
* U.S. Citizenship required
