Business Unit:

Technical Project Manager

Technical Project Managers are in charge of handling all aspects of technical projects for their organization. They are responsible for initiating programs, following their progress, and serving as support providers in case issues arise. They coordinate efforts among teams as well as develop effective schedules and suggest action items that still need to be complete to successfully complete the project.

In addition to these tasks, most importantly, technical project managers track technical issues, understand them, and implement solutions in a prompt manner. They must effectively communicate project status and suggest changes to use company resources more efficiently. Technical project managers propose solutions to technical constraints using their technical expertise and experience, as well as provide expertise for escalated quality problems, and anticipate bottlenecks in the development cycle. Additionally, technical project managers identify technical impacts on the organization as they relate to business requirements. They define strategies, regularly participate in executive meetings to present their progress, and share project information with other professionals in their organization. In brief, we are looking for candidates that have a proven ability to design solutions based on a service-oriented architecture, can drive design across multiple teams, and thrive in a strong, collaborative relationship between product managers, program managers, developers, and QA engineers as partners in the delivery of quality services.

Previous experience in software development and similar technical position is required. Technical project managers must also be problem solvers with excellent leadership skills who can motivate the employees to reach all company objectives. They must work effectively on their own, as well as in a team settings with other managers.

Responsibilities

* As a technical product owner, work with development and operations teams to establish overall product vision, create user stories, manage and prioritize the product backlog, Lead daily scrums and manage the program.
* Partners with senior manager and executive director to provide consultative direction and develops long term objectives and plans to determine resources, technology and course of action to achieve results.
* Participates in the product lifecycle process. Contributes to and creates product and technical requirements, detailed design documents including transaction, capacity and bandwidth models, systems definitions, and operational procedures as part of this process
* Understands key business drivers and applies the knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve products and services.
* Anticipates and interprets customer needs, assesses requirements and identifies solutions.
* Ensures that projects are properly accepted into the engineering team, worked on in a timely and efficient manner and smoothly transitioned into customer use
* Interprets internal/external business issues and recommends complete solutions based on best practices and proven technologies.
* Solves complex problems. Takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions
* Provides guidance for the performance and reliability of various cross-platform applications and services. Ensures that system failures are restored in a timely manner.
* Participates in the review of failures and provides feedback to prevent future occurrences
* Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
* Drive new products and features through the development process.

Job Specification:

* Bachelors Degree or Equivalent
* Business, Engineering
* Generally requires 3-5 years related experience

Requirements:

* Technical program management experience in a software product development environment including direct experience in operational cloud computing applications.
* Proven design experience with SOA, design patterns, and web service technologies.
* 1-3 years software experience at an engineering level. Proficiency in one development or scripting language (e.g. Java, Javascript, Python, Ruby)
* Proven experience as a technologist. Demonstrated ability to lead the design and development of complex applications.
* Strong sense of responsibility and ownership for the success of projects from inception to rollout and maintenance.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
