Job Description

Have you ever ordered a product from Amazon and wondered how the package arrived at your door so fast? Each year, billions of orders are processed through Amazon's order fulfillment network, and our state of the art material handling systems make this possible. The Robotics Team innovates, designs, and builds automation technology to streamline and reduce cost of operations in our Fulfillment Centers (FCs) while meeting our customers' demands: shipping the products they ordered accurately and on time.

Our team is developing the next generation of automated manufacturing and handling systems and the control software to interface between the machinery, the Associates in the FCs, and our Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). Our solutions need to be electromechanically robust, have bullet-proof control software, and provide availability, security, and easy operation in our worldwide network of hundreds of FCs.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled, experienced program manager to join the IIoT Advanced Technology team to plan, execute and deliver new Industrial Internet of Things technologies that take Amazon Fulfillment to the next level in terms of delivery speed and efficiency, accuracy and safety for our associates.

To this end, we are seeking a Technical Program Manager. The candidate will work with the FC and engineering teams to guide new products from concept to deployment, delivering high-quality results. You partner with stakeholders and/or managers to secure resources, scope efforts, set project priorities, milestones, and drive delivery to meet deadlines to meet program goals. You will thrive in a highly collaborative, creative, analytical, and fast-paced environment in solving problems in connecting the suppliers to the customers optimally.

In this role you will be responsible for scoping and delivering large projects across the Fulfillment Organization. Responsibilities include collection of business and systems requirements from internal and external customers, writing specifications, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing the production launch. You will lead and coordinate design/implementation efforts between internal teams and outside merchants and vendors to develop optimal solutions. You will be expected to make appropriate trade-offs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams.

The right candidate will possess a strong technical program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading complex projects, and will hold team members accountable to their commitments while helping them to understand the big picture. You understand system limitations, scaling factors, boundary conditions, and the reasons for architectural decisions.

As a TPM, you will have a larger business and architecture view, you will use your technical judgment to inform technology and business trade-offs, and you will ensures the development team is focused on value-added efforts. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. You'll use your high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership principles.
