FRL is currently seeking a TPM on the Optics team who will work with a world-class group of researchers and engineers. This is a full-time position and requires a degree in optical engineering, physics, material science or similar. Successful candidates must be comfortable working in a dynamic cross-functional team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Work with research and engineering teams to define milestones and deliverables.



Develop project schedules based on requirements, technical challenges, and business needs.

Identify resources needed and work closely with the team leads to maintain full visibility of multiple projects, ensuring resource gaps are addressed efficiently.

Proactively identify technical, legal, procedural, logistical, and communication issues and drive creative solutions to fix them and manage risk.

Work cross-functionally to develop best practices and research development processes in a quickly-changing and dynamic environment.

Engage with cross-functional and external teams to identify constraints, dependencies, and risks/issues.

Coordinate communication between internal and external teams and partners.

Building team, development processes, best practices, and supporting tools to support a growing organization.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* BS in Optics, Physics, or Material Science and 5+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager.



Experience with driving programs in a research environment.

Project management, leadership, dependency management and cross-group technical collaboration experience with experience managing projects.

Experience managing external technical engagements.

Knowledge of optical component development including manufacturing processes.

Organizational experience, including managing cross-team budgets and headcount.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Graduate degree in an engineering or scientific field.



Experience in project management on optics development.

Multi-team/geographically dispersed team management experience.

Deep understanding in materials, process development & process improvement, and reliability engineering.

Track record of transitioning research or emerging technologies into consumer products.
