Job Description

The Technical Designer is a game or level designer by training and is known for their technical skills. Within a multidisciplinary team the Technical Designer will be responsible for implementing complex technical and/or system design elements into the game.

Acting as a technical reference for nontechnical team members, you will assist, support and advise colleagues whenever necessary. The Technical Designer may also be called upon to represent designers needs when new features are being developed to ensure all required knobs and tuning valves are surfaced.

As Technical Designer, you must possess the ability to collaborate effectively with design, art and engineering to creatively solve challenging technical problems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* As the customer for new features and systems oversee the production and implementation by working in close collaboration with engineering, art, and design. Ensuring all necessary components are built for implementation and live operations
* Act as a design technical expert and ensure the tools, documents, technical support, and dissemination of best practices are provided to the Live Ops team
* Provide feedback and suggestions for improvements to Live Ops, including suggestions to improve tools and processes, bugs, scheduling, etc
* As an expert user, help test and bugfix new features and tools before they are released to the rest of the team
* Carry out production tasks as a member of the Live Ops team; assisting in daily releases to production, building new features, bug fixing, etc
* Design and implement new features and systems that are more complex and technically challenging with other members on the Live Ops team as customers
* Manage weekly Live Ops event production from design, implementation, bug fixing, live, and updates

REQUIREMENTS

* Advanced Excel knowledge
* Must have worked in a Live Ops role on mobile free to play games
* Familiarity with Unity or similar game engines
* Minimum 5-10+ years in technical design, scripting or level design
* Drive to understand how things work
* Ability to clearly express ideas (spoken and written)
* Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
* Game or level design experience (technical leaning)
* Ability to understand and communicate to multiple disciplines
* Programming/scripting experience an asset
* Knowledge of the Office suite
