PlayStation HQ in San Mateo, CA

The Technical Content Strategist is responsible for researching, sourcing, writing and editing technical content to be published for PlayStation publishers and developers. This role will support software developers within and outside the company by taking ownership of both time-sensitive content-related tasks and longer-term content improvement projects. We are looking for someone with the ability to assess the existing organization of content, recommend strategies for improvement, develop maintenance policies, and provide a content strategy vision for the future.

Responsibilities:

* Owning the overall content strategy vision and voice of the various PlayStation content portals.
* Developing maintenance processes and workflows for managing existing content.
* Working with our various business stakeholders to anticipate, organize, and prioritize content to meet audience needs. For example, drawing audience attention to especially useful information that might otherwise be hidden.
* Endorsing and promoting the creation of high-value content from our internal SMEs.
* Working with the Global Technical Information Group to classify technical material appropriately, following consistent editorial standards.
* Evaluating our existing content architecture against industry standards and best practices.

Operational Tasks:

* Writing, editing, and updating technical content by working with a global team of business stakeholders, product teams, and developer support engineers, in addition to potentially leading a team of content writers to deliver new content.
* Identifying content opportunities and exploring ways to repurpose existing content throughout the site. For example, identifying and creating links across technical content to improve information access.
* Creating and executing policies for distributing email newsletters, bulletins, promotions, surveys, and online outreach campaigns. Prioritizing communications so that developers can easily view the most pertinent information.
* Managing discussion posts on the DevNet forums and ensuring that the posts are not inappropriate or violating company policies.
* Monitoring website traffic, responding to website feedback, and implementing changes to the site's layout and content based on website analytics and usability testing.

Qualifications:

* Highly skilled in written communication of technical information.
* Thoroughly comfortable with computer programming languages and methodologies.
* Experience in deploying and maintaining an information architecture for a support portal or customer knowledge base.
* Proven experience with creating content for technical audiences.
* Awareness of the processes and teams involved in developing console applications, and the technological knowledge of each.
* Familiarity with (or aptitude for) one or more relevant technologies, such as low-level hardware architecture, GPUs and graphics, networks, web APIs, client/server architecture etc.
* Familiar with content management and version control systems.
* Occasional travel to the U.K. and Japan.
* Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-Have:

* Able to read C and C++ code snippets and clearly explain their operation.
* Experience with game-development tools and middleware.
* Experience with game/application development for consoles.
