Responsibilities
Summary.
The Technical Business Systems Analyst supporting NBCUniversal Brand Development organization will act as the Technical and Business Process Subject Matter Expert in various business domains for our global IT department. He/she will be involved in multiple initiatives at any given time, with primary responsibility for requirements gathering, technology development, stakeholder adoption and technical support for Brand Development users, building out, optimizing and/or upgrading the relevant application portfolio. Duties will be split between supporting new development for International Initiatives and being a Technical Support Lead for this portfolio, ensuring timely response to user requests, and providing training as needed. This person will be critical to supporting the strategic growth plans of the business. He/she must be able to learn quickly and independently, balancing workloads against competing demands, working flexible hours to collaborate with our domestic and international business partners.
Responsibilities
* Become Subject Matter Expert in Consumer Products business processes and the systems used to support these processes
* Elicit, formally document, manage, and communicate requirements
* Understand and document business processes, key performance indicators
* Identify opportunities for business process improvement through streamlined process automation, serving information needs
* Develop training materials, Tip of the Week communications, FAQs to improve business process effectiveness
* Use SME and data analysis skills to lead Exploratory testing as well as Troubleshooting
* Provide expertise to maximize testing effectiveness
* Collaborate or lead IT Continuous Process Improvement initiatives
* Partner with various internal infrastructure teams to implement technical best practices
* Create change tickets and coordinate deployments of software packages with shared services
* Assess technical feasibility of proposed solutions; anticipate and mitigate unintended technical impacts of changes to business processes and/or system configurations
* Assist in extracting, analyzing and reconciling data from various systems
* Review various data models across systems to ensure fidelity to how the data supports NBCU business processes
* Become highly proficient in new tools to assist in adoption
* Lead system performance monitoring and optimization efforts
* Create and maintain system metrics as part of overseeing system optimization
* Drive technical defect prevention via RCA from a technical perspective
* Drive IT Demand reduction by analyzing Support Queue characteristics, proposing and executing on remediation steps
* Understand IT industry and trends, emerging technologies and use them as needed to achieve organizational objectives
* Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements
Minimum 5 years of experience developing software solution to address business needs, 2+ years of experience with structured business systems analysis
3-5 years of experience in application production support, and have a structured approach to troubleshooting issues and bug fixes
2+ years' experience capturing formal requirements, test cases, and showing traceability from test results to requirements
A demonstrated track record of success in forging and developing excellent relationship with key business partners and stakeholders
Business savvy, with the ability to interpret technology issues for consumption by non-technology business partners
Technical expertise in such areas as SQL, Data Modeling, Web Development
Deep understanding of system architecture, integration, and software development processes along with experience managing application development in web, client-server and mobile environments
Desired Characteristics
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance or related field, or equivalent experience
Experience with User Interface and/or Report design
Experience with Consumer Products and Media/Entertainment
Experience with Process Improvement methodologies (e.g., 6 Sigma, Lean)
Experience with various formal methodologies for Agile software development
Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
Excellent ability to quickly learn a broad array of technologies and apply that knowledge to real-world problems; effective under aggressive timelines and high-pressure situations
Ability to demonstrate initiative, work on assigned development tasks independently, leverage team members and resources as necessary, apply critical and creative thinking, challenging the status quo where necessary
Passionate learner and follower of industry and technical trends
Experience with customer support / request management systems, e.g., ZenDesk, Service Now
Experience with APM tools, e.g., AppDynamics, M360
Understanding of QA testing, including dashboards, metrics and/or summary reporting
Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer service and response
Excellent foresight and responsiveness abilities
Superior organizational and administrative skills with the ability to prioritize work
Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with staff, executive team, external partners, etc.
