Job Description

PURPOSE of POSITION:

The Technical Advisor provides direct support to the Application Developer Organization (ADO), ensuring that there is consistent communication and collaborative application development occurring that aligns with infrastructure and security requirements. The Technical Advisor conducts routine planning and design sessions with the ADO and assist them with infrastructure related items to avoid interruption of development occurring due to infrastrcuture issues or lack of knowledge. The Technical Advisor provides the ADO recommendations on design changes/enhancements for improved efficiency, systems availability and performance.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. 30%: Participate in the planning, architecture, and design of customer projects

2. 15%: Develop and maintain the strategic IT plan to address the future needs and plans for enterprise architecture, platforms, technologies, and tools required to sustain a high level of application performance

3. 20%: Builds strong customer relationships and delivers customer-centric solutions

4. 20%: Cultivates innovation allowing for new and better ways for the company to be successful

5. 15%: Collaborates well with cross functional executive-level peers; able to drive decisions when consensus is lacking

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree

AWS Certified, VCP, RHCA, ITL

Related Work Experience: 8-10 years

* Experience with Security-related architecture and design
* Experience creating logical and physical system designs with Visio
* Worked in US government datacenter environment
* Extensive AWS experience
* VMware architectural experience
* RedHat administration experience
* Working knowledge of SAN storage technologies
* At least 5+ years of software related experience are required (release engineering preferred, or software development)
* Solid understanding of SDLC, Release Engineering, and Automated deployment processes
* Deep knowledge of build tools like Ant and Maven
* Experience with Jenkins, TFS/VSTS or other Continuous Integration tools
* Experience with Ansible, Chef, Puppet or other Configuration Management tools
* Extensive experience with Linux, Unix, Windows
* Experience with VM, Docker, container solutions
* Hands on experience with shell scripting / PowerShell scripting, etc
* Experience with app servers like Weblogic, Websphere or IIS
* Apache/Tomcat (7.0+) Web services
* JBoss
* Experience with tiered architectures - e.g. presentation, application, data
* Familiar with ITSM/ITIL management concept
* Experience configuring and tuning virtual private clouds
* Experience with Active Directory, Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), SAML, web Single Sign-on (SSO), OAuth and related authentication technologies
* Transport Layer Security / SSL principles and management
* Experience with networking principles and technologies (DNS, Load Balancers, Reverse Proxies)
* Practical experience sizing hardware and storage needs
* Previous consulting and management experience preferred

Supervisor / Team Lead

This position reports to Director, Architecture. This position serves as a resource for other employees. May communicate instructions, do minor scheduling and inspect work. May provide input in hiring, terminating, disciplining, promoting, demoting, transfers or appraising of employees.
