Taxonomy is the backbone of our digital experiences. Without proper attention, iteration, collaboration and ongoing maintenance, our search, browse and overall findability is not possible. Changes in inventory, market and competitive surveillance and responses to member feedback impact the digital taxonomy. We need the ability to respond to the ever changing market conditions to make Sears, Kmart and Marketplace products easily findable for our members. Taxonomy is the basis for all of this work.

The Taxonomist will be responsible for both identifying, analyzing and resolving taxonomy issues and resolve Jira's presented by colleagues by participating in major projects such as a redesign of a vertical or improvement of label groups across the taxonomy. The ideal candidate will have taxonomy experience and appreciate general best practices. Initially this position will focus on taxonomy maintenance, however the expectation is that this individual will be capable of adding work in strategy oriented activities.

Job Requirements Job Duties/Responsibilities:

* Develops taxonomies and attribute sets to improve product findability and shopping experience for Sears eCommerce sites
* Creates functional design and maintenance work for medium to high complexity projects using competitive research and input from cross-functional teams to ensure the taxonomy is development allowing our members to find products more efficiently.
* Provides/confirms work effort estimates for taxonomy projects to ensure deadlines are met.
* Conducts iterative evaluations of taxonomy design based on customer feedback (usability testing, interviews, cognitive walk-through, heuristic reviews).
* Prepares and conducts structured heuristic taxonomy reviews.
* Applies new taxonomy and hierarchy designs using data collected from cross functional teams and competitive analysis.
* Identifies opportunities to improve taxonomy change management processes and communications
* Develops proficiency in SHC product data/content management system
* Shares knowledge, ground rules and perspective with team members.
* Handles Taxonomy JIRA requests to address problems as well as to execute ongoing maintenance tasks.

Job Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree (Library Science strongly preferred)
* 2 to 5 years related professional experience.
