Job Description

The TP&T Manager will work closely with the National Tax Specialty Application team to design, develop and support specialty tax solutions using MS Office to meet the needs of a national tax practice. This developer will have significant responsibilities during all phases of the software development lifecycle, including working with both tax professionals and IT technologists to gather and interpret business and system requirements, proposing and vetting solution designs, prototyping and development of the MS Office solution and ultimately the testing, deployment and support of those solutions.

With the team's heavy focus on MS Office solutions, the developer will also be expected to contribute to the team's responsibilities for advanced triage of complex Microsoft Office support issues.

Essential Duties:

* MS Office Tool Design and Development - includes the following:
* Taking a lead development role throughout the software development lifecycle of multiple concurrent projects by:
* Translating business and system requirements into sustainable MS Office solution designs
* Building, testing and documenting those solutions
* Assisting and developing others during the tool deployment and support activities
* Reviewing existing MS Office solutions to identify opportunities for enhancements to functionality, confirm performance and stability and to facilitate tool integrations
* Leading discussions of software design with team members and other stakeholders
* Ensuring all established quality standards are adhered to throughout the software development lifecycle
* Coordinating with the Tax Specialty Application team lead to ensure tool designs and development approaches align with overall specialty solutions vision
* Testing - includes the following:
* Test case design
* Performing collaborative QA review of code and technical documentation written by other team developers to ensure conformance with team standards
* Document and sharing testing results
* Support - includes the following:
* Escalation point for Level 3 support ticket follow up when assigned including communications and alignment with IT
* Triaging and resolving complex MS Office tool issues, including: troubleshooting stability and performance issues, identifying security patch impacts, tool compatibility conflicts, VBA logic issues and determining when tool issues are attributable to user behavior
* Other duties including:
* Mentoring of TP&T Senior Associates and other stakeholders
* Build internal and external networks
* Actively contributing to the development and improvement of TP&T specialty application team processes
* Additional duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree required
* IT degree or Business degree with IT emphasis preferred
* Proficiency with designing, building and deploying MS Office solutions (using VBA programming with MS Office products, especially MS Excel)
* Excellent solution documentation skills (including writing and interpreting solution development documentation and in-line VBA code documentation
* Strong oral communication skills with all levels of the organization

Preferred qualifications:

* Experience with MS Office 2013 64 bit solutions and MS Office 2016
* Minimum of 5+ years relevant work experience required
* Prefer prior public accounting experience with a mid to large size firm(s) or other professional services experience
* Strong organizational skills including an ability to participate in concurrent, complex projects
* Strong interpersonal skills plus a pro-active approach to finding solutions to issues
* Self-motivated and pro-active approach to follow up on job assignments
* Ability to work and lead efficiently with remote team members
* Self-motivated with a great attention to detail
