Description

The Systems Support Tech is an entry-level position that provides technical assistance to the Engineering team. In this role, you will serve the needs of the wider engineering team as needed through the accountabilities below. While prior work experience or formal education is not required, the Systems Support Tech must have completed informal education and demonstrated an understanding of coding exercises or equivalent code samples.

Accountabilities:

Assists programmers with development using OpenVMS and Java

* Conducts technical research
* Assists with proof of concept and troubleshooting
* Performs data entry and queries using databases such as RMS and MySQL
* Assists with coding tasks in HPBASIC, DCL and Java
* Develops technical skills and knowledge of databases and coding
* Participates in project meetings

Required:

* High School (or equivalent)
* Entry-level knowledge of programming and data operations
* Experience with any programming IDE such as NetBeans, VSCode, Sublime, or Jetbrains
* Able to use the Linux command line instead of graphical user interfaces to complete work
* Ability to work on-site in a busy work environment with a diverse team of programmers
* Ability to learn programming and database skills, and take guidance from programmers
* Interested in continuously streamlining processes in order to achieve higher quality, lower costs and shorter time to market.
* Demonstrates an honest, straightforward and amiable personality and can challenge initiatives when necessary

Preferred:

* Demonstrated an understanding of coding exercises or equivalent code samples
