About the Team

The mission of the Security Engineering Edge Operations Team is to provide comprehensive edge control service aimed at allowing zero negative cyber security impacts. We aim high! Our team encompasses over twenty highly motivated professionals around the globe. The team are subject matter experts in area of network perimeter security controls, including intrusion prevention systems, web gateways, web application firewalls, and F5 load balancers. Our goal is to provide effective, secure, optimized security solutions for our business customers.

Position Description

The Lead Systems Security Engineer ensures that all network security control technologies within the Edge Operations space are functional, secure, and operating on approved software and hardware platforms. The Lead Systems Security Engineer will define security control objectives and work with the Security Design Team to prepare control technology design specifications to meet business security requirements, and satisfy coverage needs across all regions. The Lead Systems Security Engineer is responsible for the build out, maintenance, and uplift of the network security controls within the Edge Operations space. Additionally, the Lead Systems Security Engineer is responsible for the identification and remediation of security and coverage gaps that exist within Edge Operation's network control technologies. The Lead Systems Security Engineer is also responsible for strategic vision that is focused on the implementation of future state security controls. Capabilities will be dynamic, sufficiently robust, agile, reconfigurable on demand, available, and consistently controlled at all points of access. The Lead Systems Security Engineer will ensure that protection, detection, and response technologies have the capability to be rapidly deployed across all security control technologies preventing the exploitation of vulnerabilities. The Lead Systems Security Engineer will frequently interact with business and technical stakeholders across the company on security related topics, strong communication and soft skills are required to effectively represent the security goals of the Edge Operations Team.

Position Functions

* Collaborate with the Security Operations Manager to continually evaluate security control performance, coverage, and effectiveness to facilitate maximum uptime and minimize malfunctions
* Collaborate with the Security Operations Manager to Identify capability gaps and operational inconsistencies within the Edge Operation's security controls environment
* Remediate identified gaps within the Edge Operation's security controls environment through product enhancement, reconfiguration, upgrades and/or automation of processes
* Collaborate with the Security Design and Endpoint Operations teams to develop a future state strategy for Security Edge Operation's controls
* Actively engage in assigned personal development activities
* Collaborate with peers and vendor contacts to develop a plan for replacing manual processes with automation where applicable within the security controls tool set
* Provide level 2 technical support to Engineers and Junior Engineers as needed for incidents associated with Edge Operations security controls (Intrusion prevention systems, web gateways, web application firewalls, F5 load balancers)

Position Qualifications

* At least 10 years of experience in the Information Security profession
* At least 10 years of practical experience, (deployment, configuration, management, and support), working with various network and security control technologies specifically, F5 load balancers and McAfee intrusion prevention systems
* Advanced knowledge of F5 features and capabilities including iRules, SSLO, GTM, LTM
* Possess expert knowledge with layer 2 and layer 3 technologies, specifically, load balancers, intrusion prevention systems, web gateways, web application firewalls, routers, switches, and firewalls
* In depth understanding of SSL/TLS protocols
* In depth understanding of SSL certificate management with emphasis on SNI and SAN
* Detailed knowledge of and experience with Open Short Path First (OSPF), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)
* Advance knowledge of TCP/IP Networking and various remote connection methods, RDP, Putty, Telnet, SSH, SFTP.
* Advanced problem solving and analytical skills to succeed in a high-pressure environment
* Excellent people management and leadership skills
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience
* F5 Certified Solution Expert certification preferred
* CISSP, CISM, or equivalent certification preferred
