Job Summary:

The position is located in Arlington, Virginia supporting the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA RD-TT) Integrated Signatures Program (ISP). Applicant will provide systems engineering support to government Research and Development (R&D) Science and Technology (S&T) clients. Applicant will define system requirements, review software designs and technical proposals, research and develop technical solutions, perform systems functional analysis, and conduct trade studies and/or technical reviews. Position requires applicant to possess an active TS/SCI Security Clearance.

Essential Job Functions:

* Evaluate software and database systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research through the application of systems engineering knowledge.
* Provide analysis that supports the understanding and development of countermeasures against current and evolving improvised threat weapon systems.
* Provide systems engineering expertise by answering technical Requests for Information (RFI).
* Translate operational needs into software requirements
* Provide system planning, implementation, configuration, support and troubleshooting as required.
* Draft Technical and User Requirements Documents; brief finished products as required.
* Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
* Maintains R&D prototype compliance in accordance with federal and state regulations.
* Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

* Works well independently or as part of a group
* Ability to research technical issues
* Ability to identify problems, communicate them to supervisor, and propose solutions
* Knowledge of Database and Software Applications
* Previous Systems Engineering experience in DOD or IC
* Experience with Microsoft tools (SharePoint, PowerPoint, excel, word)
* Ability to write reports to present to management
* Ability to delegate implementation plans to subordinate members of group
* Contact with the customer/provide customer support (may be internal or external customer)
* Good interpersonal skills
* Effective communicator

Education and/or training:

Degree Required:

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science from accredited university or institution

Degree Desired:

* Master degree from an accredited university or institution
* Professional Engineer (PE) Certification

Years ILO experience: 12-14 years in a systems engineering discipline

Physical / Special Requirements

* Required: Active TS/SCI
* Required: 8-10 years professional experience in systems engineering or related field
* Preferred experience with radar, spectroscopy, acoustics, chemical weapons and/or infrared imagery
* Preferred experience with improvised threats or improvised weapons systems
