Position Description Overview

IBM Mainframe z/OS Storage Administrator

Job Responsibilities

* Ensures adherence to established technology standards and consults with senior leadership on technology solutions. Supports existing systems and is responsible for leading technical aspects of a project. Responsible for assigning resources and delegating tasks to meet project deliverables. Performs additional job duties as required.
* • Globally supports nearly 1.7PB of IBM DS7700 and DS8800 disk systems and nearly 18.5PBs of VTS on EMC DLM, IBM TS7720, and IBM TS7740 • Performs storage performance analysis, troubleshooting, and problem resolution • Prepares, allocates, manages, and decommissions disk and storage systems by leveraging OS utilities, processes, and functions. • Continuously searches and implements automated monitoring processes to proactively prevent customer-impacting incidents • Responsible for production and disaster recovery testing • Responsible for following all ITIL processes including change management, incident management, problem management, capacity management, and performance management • Responsible for maintaining storage documentation and standards • Provide on-call support

Scope of Job

Leads complex projects and issues within functional technical area and cross functional area. Coaches and leads less experienced IT staff. Provides leadership on projects.

Job Requirements

* 8 yrs. of related technical experience. MS/BS or equivalent work experience. Appropriate Certifications. Expert in multiple operating systems and/or middleware technologies. Knowledgeable in available support tools and emerging technologies as well as all functional areas in IT organization. Strong understanding of how technology relates to business, market and industry and applies such knowledge to support the needs of the business.
* • Two or Four-year college degree in Computer Science/Management or equivalent educational/work experience • At least five years' hands-on experience in a technical support, operational, or development role supporting IBM Mainframe solutions that include Metro-Mirror, Global-Mirror, Hyperswap, and other current disk/VTS technologies such as IBM DS8870s/DS8886, IBM TS7740 and TS7720, and EMC DLM • Experience with HP Nonstop, Stratus, and Large UNIX/Linux environments is a plus • Able to converse in Spanish is a plus
