The Systems Engineer will proactively monitor and administer all operation systems ensuring maximum uptime and system availability to the business. Candidate will provide first level support to all technical groups by investigating, resolving and assisting until resolution. Candidate will be responsible for deployment of code changes, escalations, troubleshooting, standardized communications and maintaining our virtual and physical environments. Candidate must be able to multi-task and prioritize system events according to severity and escalation procedures. Candidate must be proficient in communicating quickly and accurately in the event of production emergencies. Candidate must be proficient navigating through Linux and Windows environment and be familiar in troubleshooting and resolving production issues. Operations is a 24/7 department, candidate must be flexible to work a combination of day, evening and/or grave shift as needed for maintenance nights and patching.

Job Description

* Monitoring of Linux and Windows Virtual\Physical environments hosting various web, mobile and telephony platforms using Nagios\OpsView application monitoring system
* Receive escalations and resolve in a timely manner, while communicating and providing updates to the management team
* Responsible for VMware Horizon View (VDI) for monitoring and administration of virtual environment
* Responsible for initiating emergency conference bridge calls and sending quick and accurate outage notifications
* Expert with implementations, upgrades and patching using Invanti and other patch management products
* Responsible for communication between departments and vendors. Supporting customer support, helpdesk and core system engineering teams
* Responsible for coordinating and patching virtual\physical environment (VMware Virtual servers, desktops, and ESXi Hosts)
* Responsible for projects and communication across various departments
* Expert in backup technologies for restoring, troubleshooting and implementation
* Responsible for deployment of engineering code across multiple environments - all builds/releases communicated accordingly and applied to Development, Staging and Production environments
* Familiar with Linux flavors such as CentOS, Debian and Ubuntu
* Responsible for application support, troubleshooting and maintenance
* Responsible for monitoring and administration of change management policies and procedures through ServiceNow ticketing system
* Responsible for image updates for Windows and MacOS devices

Ideal Candidate will have the following:

* Ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical colleagues
* Ability and willingness to work overtime
* Expert working with internal and external monitoring systems
* Expert knowledge of computer and network systems, applications, procedures and techniques
* Ability to troubleshoot and identify system malfunctions and operational issues
* Detailed working knowledge and ability to troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Server 2012R2/2016
* Functional knowledge of VMware Horizon View Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
* Active Directory administration
* Enterprise environment experience
* VMware experience
* Must be able to accurately report information in a timely manner
* Ability to work under stress in a high paced environment

Minimum Qualifications and Technical Requirements:

* Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or equivalent work experience
* 5+ years of relevant work experience
* Must be comfortable working in a command line
* Windows experience (running scripts, processing event log messages, troubleshooting errors)
* System administration skills around Windows Server 2012R2/2016
* Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOP's)
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Must be able to accurately report information in a timely manner
* Team leadership skills
* Ability to direct and mentor staff members
