About Northrop Grumman Corporation

Job Description

At Northrop Grumman we develop cutting-edge technology that preserves freedom and advances human discovery. Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. We continue to innovate with developments from launching the first commercial flight to space, to discovering the early beginnings of the universe. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.

The Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) program delivers timely, reliable and accurate missile warning and infrared surveillance information to key decision makers. The system enhances global missile launch detection capability, supports the nation's ballistic missile defense system, expands the country's technical intelligence gathering capacity and bolsters situational awareness for warfighters on the battlefield. The SBIRS architecture includes a resilient mix of satellites in geosynchronous earth orbit (GEO), hosted payloads in HEO orbit, and ground hardware and software. The integrated system provides robust performance with global, persistent coverage.

Northrop Grumman's Aerospace Sector, Military & Civil Space Systems Division in Azusa CA, is in need of qualified system engineers with an emphasis in IR radiometry, calibration, and simulation modelling to fill system performance analyst needs on the Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) program. SBIRS has several Payloads on orbit and others scheduled to build, test, and launch over the next several years. Radiometric analysts will support sensor calibration and trending, ground and orbital system test data analysis, test design, anomaly resolution support, tool development, simulation modelling, and requirements/performance capability sell-off for the SBIRS GEO and HEO payloads. Work may include payload and space vehicle integration and test, analyzing radiometric calibration system performance for on-orbit SBIRS payloads as well as in support of SBIRS flight readiness test activities for payload and ground systems. Ideal candidate will have a technical understanding of radiometric calibration and simulation modelling techniques in a space environment.
