Systems Engineer
Would you like to play a key role in the development of navigation systems for the UK's new submarine platform? We currently have a vacancy for a Systems Engineer at our sites in either Frimley or Weymouth.
As a Systems Engineer you will be designing and developing safety critical navigation systems for the Dreadnought submarine class. These systems are safety-critical and mission-critical, and provide cutting edge capability to the Royal Navy.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work at the forefront of defence technology, contributing to the success of the UK's defence programme.
Your main responsibilities as a Systems Engineer will involve:
Managing the system design of the navigation systems for the submarine platform
Gathering and managing high-level customer requirements and decomposing into system level requirements
Managing design change and design improvement from existing platform baselines to ensure system functionality future platforms
Cascading requirements to suppliers and carrying out supplier visits, to support the development and integration of sub-systems
Being involved in design reviews, including those with ship builders, suppliers, and the MoD customer
Supporting system integration and testing
Your skills and qualifications:
Essential:
Experience in systems engineering- including systems design and integration
Requirements management experience
HNC/ HND level qualification in relevant engineering field or equivalent experience
Desirable:
Experience using DOORS

Maritime Submarines - Combat Systems
Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century. It currently employs approximately 7,700 people, with 500 of these working for Combat Systems across our sites in Barrow-in-Furness, Ash Vale, Broad Oak, Filton, Frimley and Weymouth.
We are currently responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of the Royal Navy's latest and most capable generation of attack submarines, as well as their intelligent Combat Systems trusted to detect threats in the naval environment.
Our Combat Systems team designs, builds, integrates and supports all of the submarine combat systems in the UK fleet - essentially, the eyes and ears of each platform. We provide through-life support for combat systems, sensors and radars, and deliver complex programmes and technologies by applying expert programme management and world-class engineering.
