Provide information security support as a subject-matter expert to the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) program. Perform tasks assigned by the JPSS Computer Security Official (CSO) and IT manager in support of the JPSS program office and the JPSS flight project (If tasked).

Duties & Responsibilities

Develop and maintain security documentation for the government-owned IT equipment; monitor the JPSS IT infrastructure for vulnerabilities and take action when necessary; do a risk assessment annually; Represent the JPSS program in all Flight Project Directorate Security meetings; participate in seminars, etc.

Provide IT Security support the JPSS Flight Project (current and future satellites); Maintain the System Key Management Plan for JPSS-2/3/4; Maintain the COMSEC Security Plan for JPSS-2/3/4; support the Project (Space Asset) Protection Plan team as required.

Support the annual independent Assessment and Authorization (A&A) by providing all the requested artifacts, answer queries; follow up on recommendations of the Assessment team and the Flight Project Directorate ISSO.

Handle IT-related security incidents (support the GSFC Incident Response Team's investigation); take actions recommended by the Center Incident Response Team; complete incident reports that include actions taken and recommendations for closure

Participate in various program and project reviews; Support the GSFC IT Security Working Group activities. Complete required annual training. Complete any other assignment from the customer.

Knowledge

Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations.

Education

Minimum education: Bachelors

Certifications Desired: Information Security Professional
