Human Space Exploration Advanced Programs is seeking a Configurator to become part of our Concept Team. You will play an integral role in the development of Crewed Lunar Lander systems, the Gateway Habitat, deep space logistics vehicles, and other crewed mission concepts in support of NASA's exploration goals. You will collaborate with the Systems Architect and Deputy Architect as well as other discipline owners to advance system architecture design. Additionally, you will be responsible performing system trades utilizing software to simulate the characteristics and parameters of integrated systems components, modules, or complete products under operating environment. As Configurator, you will have the opportunity to impact the layout of crewed subsystems to optimize performance, support crew user needs, and inform the systems architect of modifications needed to meet human factors and manufacturability requirements. You will assess the use of common products in new vehicle designs and support visual communication graphic artists with proposals for Human Space Exploration Advanced Programs pursuits.

Typically has 5 - 10 years of professional experience.

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
* Proficient CREO modeling software
* Experience as a space vehicle configurator
* Experience in performing formal systems engineering trade studies

Desired Skills:

* Design experience with Orion and/or other NASA architectures
* Knowledge of CATIA and AutoCAD a plus
* Experience with photo-manipulating software, Photoshop or similar
* Experience presenting and communicating with executive level customers
* Experience working on rapid conceptual design projects
* Structures design and/or manufacturing experience
