The System Design Verification Engineer in AR Hardware will be an integral member of the system design verification engineering (DVE) team that ensures our designs are capable of meeting all product requirements. This position will have the opportunity to influence product design, own a substantial aspect of design verification engineering, and design test protocols with line-of-sight to mass production. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can navigate through the development of test architecture all the way through detailed execution. They are detail-orientated with robust communication skills and comfortable working in a highly visible and highly hands-on problem-solving environment.

The candidate will also have a strong ability to communicate to all levels of an organization - from management to technical engineers. With broad product realization experience, the candidate will have a passion in one or more of the following topic areas: automation, computer vision, project management, image quality assessment.

Responsibilities

* Work with the hardware engineering and technology teams to understand product design requirements and develop test systems to evaluate functional performance.
* Develop testing and metrology capabilities for a broad range of optical parameters for imaging and non-imaging systems.
* Leverage and manage contract design and vendor resources to develop and qualify custom test systems.
* Utilize instruments and tools for optical measurements of components, sub-assemblies and systems.
* Work with vendors for development and qualification of tools and custom test systems, including statistical analysis controls and methods.
* Ability and willingness to travel: up to 25% domestic travel and up to 10% to global locations at later specified project life-cycle periods.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor of Science in Engineering, or equivalent experience.
* Experience in electro-optical device engineering, prototype development and validation.
* Experience building both hardware and software that leverage sensor input and PID controllers to create precisely control automated systems.
* Experience evaluating technical problems with data and analysis to provide feedback and solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

* Master of Science in Engineering.
* 5+ years of experience in a combination of electro-optical device engineering.
* Experience testing opto-mechanical systems in high-volume consumer products.
* Experience with one of the following technologies: Camera, Display, Precision Optics and Coatings.
* Experience with implementing manufacturing solutions (quality, build, test) for an optic or sensor that was particularly complex or sensitive, with proven results.
* Experience mentoring other engineers and building an engineering or manufacturing team, with an understanding of interpersonal relationships and employee growth.
